SPRING - Rising YANG
Beginnings ~ Growth ~ Creativity
Organ - Liver. Element - Wood
Cold winter is giving way to warmer days of spring.
The earth is emerging from the darkness of the long winter rest full of possibility and potential for growth.
The Wood element energy stretches upwards and outwards. From steady roots plants expand naturally growing upwards and outwards towards the light.
When balanced - like wood - we grow strong and true.
We need the right conditions for this growth.
Fearing change, feeling stuck or drowning out our possibilities of growth through self criticism and doubt are all restrictions on this healthy, natural development.
With balanced Wood growth is experienced emerging from fertile ground, nurturing our dreams, plans and visions. When this happens naturally, organically without pushing or struggle we develop trust that life is unfolding as it can.
The Liver organ in Chinese medicine stores blood and is responsible for the efficient movement of blood around the body nourishing the joints, ligaments and tendons.
Emotionally the Liver absorbs and releases anger.
When balanced this occurs in a healthy way allowing us to adapt to the changes that life can throw at us without becoming angry, frustrated or blaming ourselves or others.
In our Qigong and Tai Chi practice we invite the body to be deeply rooted through the feet.
Allowing flowing, flexible effortless movement of the forms.
Nurturing a deep sense of acceptance of both ourselves and others leads to a balanced wood element.
